'Our Future'  Photograph

 Our Future Photo

A large dimension of New Zealand’s future is the rapidly changing demographics of our country.  As with many areas in the world, NZ is experiencing significant change to our ethnic make-up.

Our iconic photograph is an attempt to demonstrate this; a multiethnic group of children at play in one of our primary schools.  If this photograph had been taken thirty years ago, chances are that the youngsters would be mainly of European extraction with a Maori child also pictured.  Now the ethnic mix has been widened to include Pacific Islanders and Chinese in the significant groupings.  Not to mention the many other ethnic backgrounds now represented in our society.
